I have been getting lots of emails and comments regarding the places to explore nearby the Infosys Mysore Campus. So, I am writing this article to give an idea about some of the good places that you can explore for relieving the boredom of the busy and hectic schedule of training.

Some places to explore near Infosys Mysore Campus :

 1) Mysore Palace: It is a big palace situated in the Mysore city. It was the official residence of the former royal family of Mysore, and also housed the durbar (royal offices).

2) Brindavan Gardens :  It is a show garden that has a beautiful botanical park, full of exciting fountains, as well as boat rides beneath the dam. Diwans of Mysore planned and built the gardens in connection with the construction of the dam. Display items include a musical fountain. But fountain start around 7 pm in the evening so plan your trip accordingly. Other than the musical fountain, it is a normal garden.

3) Chamundi Hills : It is close to the palace city of Mysore. Its average elevation is 1,000 meters. A panoramic view of the city is seen from the top of the hills. Among other landmarks, you can see the racecourse, the Lalitha Mahal palace, Mysore Palace, Karanji and Kukkarahalli lakes. At dusk, the view of the city is especially beautiful, and on Sunday evenings and during the Dasara festival, the illuminated Mysore Palace glitters like gold.

4) St. Philomena’s Church is a church built in honor of St. Philomena in the city of Mysore. It was constructed in 1956 using a Neo-Gothic style and its architecture was inspired by the Cologne Cathedral in Germany.

5) Mysore Zoo :It  one of the oldest and most popular zoos in India. It is  Located on the outskirts of Mysore, the zoo is home to a wide range of wild species. The official name for the zoo is Shri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, though it is known commonly by its shortened name. Mysore Zoo is one of the city’s most popular attractions.

Some Foodie places :
Food is always an unsatisfactory thing for almost every trainee.  Though there are different vendors from different food varieties for different regions of India. There are food courts where you can find North or East region food. But they are not up to mark as their way of preparing food differs from the native way of preparation. So it will not be a surprising thing if you start hating  your most favorite dishes :p But if you are non-vegetarian try from Pathankot’ vendor. It is a bit good than others. Rest everyone has its own taste, so things may change as per their perception.

I am sharing with you all few restaurants and food court outside the campus that are good for foodie people. You can go for dinner or lunch during weekdays also.

 1)  La MoshPit MultiCuisine Restaurant : A good place where you can find the taste of North Indian food. Rates are nominal. The best part is there are few board games that you can play and have your time pass while waiting for the order. It is 1-2 km away from Infosys Mysore Campus.

 2) Rasoi too : It is also a good place to have North Indian food in South India. It is less than 1 km away from Infosys Mysore Campus.
3) Jwala- House of Punjabi and Tandoori delicacies : If you want to have good Punjabi food, then Jwala is the place where you want  to be. Owners are Punjabi and a very homely environment.  Food is too tasty.

    Hi Kumar,

Thanks for dropping your comment. Yes, I had visited all the places before posting this article. You are correct that Mysore palace is more of a photo exhibition and most places are closed. Not sure about hygiene and all, how much the situation have changed now. I had visited this place 3+ years back, it was ok to at least visit this once, being in Mysore. So thought to mention that as well 🙂

Hi dear.. Last week,I have visited Mysore palace & Zoo. Please publish my comments on your blog. I am not sure whether you have visited these places before writing this blog.

Mysore Palace : It is not at all neat and not a hygienic place to visit. Sometimes I thought we went for photo exhibition. Most of the places/rooms in palace are closed. They just shown some halls with restrictions. They don’t allow photographs(Don’t say security reason, there is nothing to secure) and staff are very ridiculous. No one is there to explain what it is, at-least we don’t found relevant boards at all. They were charging entry fee(40/-) & separate charge for museum(40/-). There is nothing to see in museum. As per my experience it is not a suggestible place to visit.

Zoo : It is somewhat better compared to palace. Firstly, it is not an hygienic place. Very poor maintenance place. Secondly, we can found limited animals and birds.

The remaining places are good to visit (Chamundi Hills, St. Philomena’s Church,Brindavan Gardens).
