If you have a blog with a large number of posts and you post regularly, it is challenging to maintain exposure to old blog posts. Today, I am mentioning the Revive Old Post plugin by Revive Social that I have been using for quite a long time now, and I have got outstanding results. It has really helped me to drive instant traffic to my old blog posts as well without doing any hard work. Generally, when we write any new post, we look forward to promoting that as much as we can and try to rank them higher but we forget that old posts also need care and need to be promoted as well to get traffic and rank higher.

Writing a post itself is a time-consuming task since you have to do a lot of keyword research and then editing and optimizing it. So, it is difficult to dedicate much time to promote your posts, especially for old posts. If you also do not get enough time to share your posts on social networking sites regularly, then Revive old post plugin is a boon for you.
1) What Revive Old Post Plugin Does?
Revive old post (formerly known as Tweet Old Post) is a cool and lightweight plugin that automatically shares your blog post on social media networks including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Xing, Tumblr, etc. It is basically an auto post scheduler. Another good thing about this plugin is that is highly customizable. You can select which category, which tags you want to include or exclude while sharing to your social networking sites. There are many other settings that you can configure as you wish.
2) Configuring Revive Old Post Plugin
Configuring Revive old Post Plugin is very simple and easy. This tool comes in both free and premium version (We will discuss the premium version in the next sections of this article). To get the free version, follow the below steps:
- Login to Your WordPress dashboard
- Go to Plugins
- Click on ‘Add New’
- Search for the ‘Revive Old Post’ plugin.
- Click on the ‘Install’ button.
- Click on ‘Activate’.
Congrats! You have successfully installed the plugin. Now, it is time to configure.
- Account Settings
In the free version of Revive Old Post Plugin, you can configure only one account on Twitter and one account on Facebook. If you want to configure multiple accounts, you will have to go for Premium versions (I will be soon switching to Premium Version).
Below is the snapshot of my settings:
- General Settings
Here, you can easily set the way you want to share your posts. You can configure after how much time your old blog posts should be shared, the number of posts to be shared every time, minimum age, and maximum age of posts that are eligible to share. You can also set if you want to share only posts or pages or if you want specific categories, tags, posts to be excluded/included while sharing old blog posts (All thanks to Revive Old Post Plugin). - Post Format
Here, you can configure how you want your posts to be shared on all your accounts. You can specify whether you want to share Title Only, Body Only, Title & Body both or any Custom Field, the length of tweet/share, additional text if you want, where to display additional text (before or after post type), include links, use Hashtags or not, etc.
Below is the sample snapshot of my settings:
Note: Using hashtags is a good way to bring more traffic and exposure to your shared post.
(Now you would not like to miss benefits provided by Revive old Post plugin 😉 )
- Custom Schedule
You can also schedule the sharing process however you want. You can set it after each hour (minutes too) or custom schedule. You can also specify on which day at which time you want to share your old blog posts.
- Manage Queue
In this tab, you can see what are the queued posts that are about to be shared. You can customize this also. But this feature is only available in the business version.
- Logs
The Logs section displays all the logs about the posts which are shared with the timestamp. You will also see the errors if any of your blog posts could not be shared on social channels due to some reasons. Below is the sample logs for my blog:

3) Pricing Plan For Revive Old Post Plugin
As I have mentioned earlier, there are both free and pro versions available for this plugin. The free version provides limited customization and features. The free plugin allows you to post content on Twitter, choose the posting frequency; use hashtags, etc. However, it doesn’t support multiple social accounts, custom post types, and custom scheduling. Going for the pro version can help you to unlock all the features and get the maximum benefit out of it. Below are the pricing plans:
There are three pricing plans for the Revive Old Post Pro plugin.
- The personal plan is priced at $75 per year. This plan allows you to use the plugin in one website, use custom post types, and includes one year of support and updates.
- The business plan is priced at $149 per year. This allows you to use the plugin on 3 sites. Along with all the features of the personal plan, the business plan also includes custom scheduling and queue management.
- The Marketer plan enables you to use the plugin on unlimited websites. Priced at $299 per year, this plan also includes all the benefits of the business plan.

Conclusion – The Revive Old Posts Plugin
I have been blogging for more than 6 years now & I have always struggled and found it difficult to dedicate time to my old posts (Though I used to do a bit of updating and sharing of my old blog posts.) But after finding this plugin, I am relieved. I have been using it for quite a long time now and my experience is so good so far. I couldn’t find anything bad to say about the plugin yet. Below is the snapshot of my Twitter account after using the Revive Old Post plugin-
I would suggest you giving it a try at least. It is very difficult to find a revive old post alternative. There is no point in creating new content every now and then but forgetting the power of old blog posts and wasting it. By using this plugin, you will surely bring some life back to your old posts. If you do not want to spend money, you can go for the free version. But I would say that the price for the Pro version is reasonable and definitely worth the money.
