After I changed my hosting to NameCheap Shared Hosting, I have got lots of questions why I switched to NameCheap and what is my take on NameCheap Shared Hosting. So, I thought to write an article on this. It is very crucial to choose a reliable web hosting to ensure that your website remains safe and accessible all the time. If you are experiencing problems with your existing provider then you should take proper actions to fix it. If it is not resolving, you should consider changing it to a good host. It is difficult to choose a good hosting as each hosting provider claims to provide 99% uptime, unlimited resource, live support and many others. Before choosing any hosting company, make sure to cross check your requirements and customer reviews for the hosting that you are thinking to purchase.
My Experience Before Namecheap Shared Hosting
Corporate Infocom Pvt. Ltd.
I have been blogging since 2012. As I have already mentioned, I started blogging with a blog called sparkscoop.com. I purchased the domain and hosting from a Delhi-based company known as – Corporate Infocom Pvt. Ltd. (known as CIPL). At that time, I started blogging as my hobby. I used to write articles on LifeStyle, Entertainment, Top 10 List, Latest Technologies, and Computer Stuff etc. My experience was good with CIPL so far, might be because in initial time I did not require much from hosting. But after a year, I had to renew my domain and hosting service. I submitted the renewal fees to CIPL. Though, the company renewed my hosting but missed to renew my domain. I came to know about it after the domain retention period was over and my website was not accessible. The one year of my hard work went in vain. I tried to check this with the company but they blamed me for not messaging them to renew domain also. (I was like WTF!!!!)
Since my hosting package was renewed, I purchased a new domain – CatchUpdates.com and started working on it. For the initial few days, everything was ok. But as time kept on going, I started to get a few issues with my blog for downtime or other problems. Soon, my blog started getting traffic and I got low bandwidth issues. I reached to the company and they increased my bandwidth to some extent and asked me to decrease the size of my blog and to uninstall extra resources. But one day, I found my website was not opening. I called the company and found that my CIPL account was suspended because my website was using more resources that they were providing. I thought to change my hosting after that.
WebBila Inc
After CIPL, I switched to WebBila Inc – a Mohali-based company. I took my backup from the previous hosting and uploaded that to WebBila hosting. The quality of WebBila hosting was far better than CIPL hosting service. I faced very low downtime and also my bandwidth was increased automatically when I was about to reach my threshold so overall good hosting support. I was doing fine with WebBila, the only concern was I found it a bit expensive and also had a single point of contact whom I could contact in case of any issues. So when my hosting was about to expire, I thought to switch to a hosting which is more reliable in the market and have a good brand and live hosting support. I did a lot of research and found NameCheap Shared Hosting will be the best for me.

Why NameCheap Shared Hosting?
NameCheap was founded in 2000 which shows it is an experienced company. It has over 800,200 clients worldwide showing the reliability of its services. Along with domain name registration, it also offers a wide range of the web hosting solutions, including shared hosting, reseller hosting, VPS hosting, and dedicated server. It has been 3 months, I have hosted my website on its server and so far my experience is very good. Of all the shared hosting I have tried, Namecheap is the best shared hosting.
Just to clarify on shared hosting – It is a number of hosting accounts located on one server, some of them share the same IP address. These plans will always offer a specific set of features and will always have limits on resources. It is essential to know what features you need for your site and how demanding it can get in terms of the resources consumption. You may start with a limited plan and upgrade later after your site grows and gets more traffic. Just be sure that the plan you select offers the features your site requires. Some of the things you may need to consider:
- Disk space
- Bandwidth
- The number of hosted domains and possibly the number of subdomains, and parked domains,
- Versions of PHP, MySQL, and Perl.
Reasons For Choosing NameCheap Shared Hosting
- Relatively Low Cost
NameCheap Shared hosting for less than a domain name costs. It delivers amazing server speeds, unparalleled website performance and delivers 100% uptime, backed by a guarantee. There are following shared hosting plans:
- Amazing Features
NameCheap shared hosting provided 4 upgradable plans having each plan with different features, such as disk space, bandwidth, domains hosted, subdomains, websites, email accounts, MySQL databases, and so on. The Value plan includes 25 GB disk space, 5 hosted websites, 50 subdomains, 50 FTP users, which make it suitable for personal websites only. In addition to the above features, the brand also includes Apache 2.X, PHP 5, MySQL 5.X.X, xCache, eAccelerator, SSH access, and script languages including Perl, FTP, MySQL databases, apps, and others with great ease.
- Guarantee to meet 100% uptime SLA
Uptime is one of the most important things when it comes to choosing a web host. The problem is, is that it is very difficult to ascertain how reliable a host is. It provides the guarantee to meet 100% uptime SLA. If they fail to do so, they issue account credits. Though it is also true, no hosting provider can provide 100% uptime as servers can be prone to issues. Fortunately, I have never seen a downtime in my 3 months period so far 🙂
- Providing cPanel
cPanel comes with all of NameCheap shared hosting packages. It gives you full control of your website through your web browser. cPanel is the #1 control panel worldwide NameCheap has not modified the actual branding or cPanel interface, nor has disabled any of its functionality. It is included free with all accounts. Some hosts will limit backup functionality, so it is good to know that they do not do this.
- Better Performance
NameCheap has two data centres in the US and the UK. It utilizes a fully redundant network and enterprise-grade servers, which have at least two processors, 16 GB of RAM, and 4 hard drives with RAID protection. Installed with CloudLinux, the servers are powerful to keep online websites stable and resilient thus providing better performance.
- Security
NameCheap servers are secured to the highest possible standards, using hardware and software firewalls alongside their own in-house security package making servers – the most secure and private around.
- Technical Support and Live Chat
NameCheap has a very good Live Chat support system. When I migrated my website from WebBila to NameCheap shared hosting, I was facing a few issues. I did live chat many times and every time my issue was resolved on the spot. They have support personnel working 24*7 available via Live Chat and Helpdesk to assist you with your hosting service, whenever you need it. With knowledgeable and well-trained staffs, you can get effective solutions when you are in troubles.

- Integrated Cloudflare
I am a big fan of Cloudflare in combination with shared hosting. Cloudflare can increase your site’s performance, whilst reducing the stress on your server, which for shared hosting matters. Cloudflare is one of the first things recommended to implement when hosting providers try to get you to upgrade to a VPS due to CPU over usage.
The only problem with NameCheap shared hosting that I have found is, it has a short Money Back Guarantee. They only offer a 14-day money back guarantee which is far less than many other hosts. It is difficult to evaluate a host in just 14 days. But as per my experience and research, NameCheap is a well established, and extremely well known for their domain registration services so I do not think you need to be worried about this.
Final Thoughts On NameCheap Shared Hosting
NameCheap is a well-renowned cheapest hosting company with a good reputation in the market. This NameCheap shared hosting is worth trying if you are going to purchase or switch hosting. It is a very cheap hosting with CPanel. Their support is great, and you will find their online chat support staff very knowledgeable. They seem to be fairly reliable and they offer superb value.

Hi Deepak, I have not tried GoDaddy yet. I have heard their support is not up to the mark. How’s your experience with that?
Deepak Gera says
Mohit, Did you try GoDaddy? I mean may be you are having some other thoughts but I set up around 8-10 websites with them for my clients and so far all are happy. I didn’t see any issues with them.
If you have faced any issue with GoDaddy then please do let me know. May be in future I’ll look into that aspect also.
