Top 13 Proven Tips To Increase Conversion Rates

If you want to earn money online, traffic is not the only metric you should care about. You need to convert your traffic into sales or leads thus having a high sales conversion rate. Lots of folks struggle on how to improve conversion rate. This article enlists the 13 tips that will help you to increase conversion rates for your blog. You might have wonder sometimes that some of your new competitors are earning more income than you, despite having low traffic. The key point is – they are having good conversion rates. On the other hand, you are having a low conversion rate and need to increase conversions. Higher traffic with a low conversion rate will not be able to earn you more bucks. You should try to increase website conversion along with getting high traffic.

Tips To Increase Conversion Rates

It is not easy to increase conversion rates. But once you get high conversion rates, you can think of massive sales and leads. Now, it is high time for you to understand how to increase conversion rate. The following are the proven tips that will help you to increase conversion rates of your blog.

  1. Know Your Unique Selling Proposition/Point (USP)

The first and foremost thing is to identify your unique selling point. You should find what your blog/company is selling that uniquely defines you. USP is the one thing that differentiates you from others. If your product or service is being delivered by other competitors also, then why should one purchase from you? If you still do not know about your USP, find it now. List all the features and benefits of your product or service and identify various aspects that your competitors can not provide or imitate. This will be helpful for conversion in sales

2) Invoke Call To Action (CTA)

As per the many surveys carried out, many pro bloggers have pointed out that invoking a call to action can definitely help you to increase conversion rates. Suppose, you have written an article on one of your affiliate products reviews. The visitors have read the full article and now they have an idea about the products and qualities. But if you have not provided a call to action, they do not know/or are still doubtful where to go now and what to do. By providing a call to action, you are directing your visitors what they should do now and it can help you in converting sales. You may have noticed that many pro bloggers tend to have a subscription box at the end of the post or when the user is about to leave the blog page. This is because if visitors have liked the article, there is a call to action for them which suggests them to subscribe to their blogs. As a good practice, make sure your CTA is compelling that invokes urgency and is easily visible and clickable 🙂 This will surely help you to increase the rate of conversion of your website.

3) Perform A/B (Split) Testing

Testing help you to optimize your conversion aspects thus provides you various options to increase conversion rates. A/B testing is a technique to find which option is better suitable and has higher conversions. Suppose, you have two different versions of a page (which are capable of producing conversions) with different headlines. Now, split testing software redirects the 50% of incoming visitors to Page 1 – Version A & 50% to Page 1 – Version B. Both the page versions have a call to action enabled. After some period, you can check which page version has more conversions (say Version B). The page version with more conversion performed better and it wins. You can continue to use Version B since it will continue to provide you massive sales with higher conversion rates. You should keep on performing A/B Testing periodically on different things. It will help you to optimize your site in a better way.

Here, I have taken an example of different headlines for A/B testing, you can try on the same on other factors also such as – Call to action buttons, media, providing different offers, changing compelling words or having different color combinations etc. If you do not have any software to perform A/B testing, you can try Google Content Experiments which is already provided in Google Analytics.

4) Never Confuse Your Visitors With Lots Of Options

It is good to provide different options for your visitors to choose from. But it is useless to confuse them with lots of options which are either less suitable or irrelevant. I have seen many people who try to showcase all the products that they have. It is not a good practice. Always remember the fact that – the more options you give, the more hesitant the person will be as to which one he should choose. Also, the good way to showcase your affiliate products is by placing affiliates banners in your blog sidebar. You can always keep on experimenting with different banners/ different sizes of banners if your current banners are not converting well. Above the fold can be a better option if the sidebar is not working well for you as the user’s eye will be directed to above the fold first. As mentioned earlier, doing the testing will help you to increase conversion rates.

5) Understanding Sales Funnel Management

Conversion marketing experts consider it as one of the most promising conversions marketing strategies. Mostly salesmen and marketing experts are well versed with sales funnel management. Understanding this concept can really help you to increase conversion rate. The major mistake that most people do is invoking visitors for sales very fast. Understand the fact that visitors have just come to your site and still reading about it or just browsing, they are not in the hurry to purchase.

A sales funnel is the visual representation of how sale proceeds in a linear fashion from customer awareness to customer action. This funnel also illustrates the idea that every sale begins with a large number of prospective customers and ends with a much smaller number of people who actually make a purchase. A sales funnel is divided into several phases which may differ for different sales model –

  • Awareness Phase: This is the phase in which prospects/visitors become aware of the existence of a solution/product or service.
  • Consideration Phase: A phase in which users finally consider it and show interest in a product by conducting product research.
  • Decision Phase: After examining and evaluating the products/services, users come to the decision phase. This is the phase in which a final decision is reached and negotiation begins.
  • Action Phase: This is the final phase in which users take final action and purchase your product or service and sale is made.

If you are offering a software product or service, you can try providing a demo or free trial period to the users. So that they can have hands-on the product and finally if they like, they can purchase it. If your product is good enough, there is no harm in providing a free trial for some period, users will definitely buy. Keep in mind that the most costly the product, the more time people need before they actually buy it.

6) Creating Seducing Pages

By creating seducing pages, I mean creating pages that entice the users. You can create pages such as ‘Hot Deals’ or ‘Discounted Products’ etc to seduce the users to have a look at that at least. The next move is to list the benefits and features of the products with a compelling call to action.

7) Show the authenticity of the product

The product or service that you are offering should be genuine and authentic. Whatever you are mentioning on your article should have legal proof. People love to see the evidence before making any purchase (like we check for reviews before purchasing any item online). There are many ways by which you can show the authenticity of the product such as customer testimonials (the customer who have bought your product and really enjoying your product or service. Include video testimonials or audio along with a customer’s photo. These greatly increase credibility), case studies or social proof, etc.

8) Showcase Why You Beat Your Competitor

Before buying any product, people tend to do complete research about it. Every business has its competitors. People will always do a cost-benefit analysis before making any purchase. You should showcase your product and tell why it beats your competitors’ product. If your product is expensive, then why so? What extra benefits or features you are providing with your product. Make sure you explain why your product is the best and why they should purchase only from you.

9) Videos Speak More Than Images

Include a simple video on landing pages to show there’s a real person behind your brand. You can also have a video (such as an overview or tutorial video) to show how easy it is to use your product.

10) Providing Incentives With Purchase

You can also add incentives (on some conditions) if users purchase from you.  Adding incentives can help you to increase conversion rates. The incentive can be anything such as a gift voucher, providing any other product free, etc.

11) Adding Live Chat Option

Adding live chat option can also help you to fetch a few sales. There may be scenarios where users are interested in your product but they have some doubts or they need a slight push. Your live chat persons can guide the users and clear their doubts then and there itself. And can also do a follow up till the sale is credited. Thus, having a live chat option can help you to increase conversion rates.

12) Include Recommend related products

Include links to related content or products to keep visitors engaged and on your site. You can have a section showing ‘People Who Bought this also bought this’ or ‘You may like to buy these as well’. It can help you to sell few more add-on products.

13) Making It Easy To Buy From You

You should guide the users on how to buy from your site (where to go and where to click). Provide several options to buy. For example, some users may not have a PayPal account. Try adding different payment methods (Debit cards, credit cards or online wallets, etc) to give options to users so that they can choose in which they are more comfortable. Also, put your refunds/return policy or guarantee below your checkout button instead of on a separate page or on a customer service page.

Conclusion

That’s all in this article! There are no particular answers to what’s a good conversion rate or average website conversion rates. Your goal should be to achieve high website conversion rate. Hopefully, the tips above will help you to increase conversion rates. Keep on testing and experimenting with your placements and options.
