Actress Genelia D’souza believes in regular care to keep skin problems at bay.
I think the once-in-a-blue-moon olive oil massage does wonders to my hair. It helps to keep the lustre and smoothness of my hair intact. Once in a while, I also use an egg mask on my hair to keep them healthy. A fresh cream face mask keeps my skin from getting dry and a multani mitti application once a week acts as a natural exfoliator and gives my skin a freshly-scrubbed glow.
I’ve always been blessed with healthy skin and it is very rare that I suffer from a breakout. Right from the start, I’ve been a stickler for the daily cleansing-toning-moisturizing routine. Considering the regular use of make-up and the fact that I’m under the glare of the harsh shooting lights practically all the time, I’m adamant about using really strong cleansing milk to get the make-up off my skin and I never sleep with make-up on, however tired I am.
It is important to keep the skin hydrated and I use a hydrating spray all the time including a strong sunscreen since I tend to tan a lot. When it comes to make-up, I usually go au natural most of the time and opt for a basic blush, lip gloss and kohl for a day look.
Like the rest of the world, I’ve been the victim of adolescent acne but not as often as would have bothered me. Being a sports-girl, I was very active and hence would keep having a lot of water, fresh fruit and vegetable juices which prevented my skin from suffering from major break-outs. Other than the occasional pimple, I’ve been pretty safe from teenage problems.
When in doubt, always opt for going natural rather than hiding your skin under foundation and such. Line your eyes with kohl and mascara, put on some bright lip gloss and pinch your cheeks a little bit to get them all flushed and bright!
Constant blow-drying and heat treatments during shoots make my hair go really limp and dry. So I’m a huge fan of hair spas that help revive natural gloss and volume. Other than that, I make sure to condition my hair every time I wash them. What a lot of people don’t realize is that damage to hair starts from washing your hair in a rush and not taking all the product out such as leave-in conditioners. So I always make sure that I cleanse my hair properly and get the shampoo and conditioner completely out. I rinse my hair with warm water and then a dash of cold water to lock in the moisture. A regular trim to keep the split ends away and occasional colouring is part of my hair regimen.
Must-have in the make-up kit
Always keep face wipes, kohl and a cheek and lip tint in your kit along with a small bottle of your favourite fragrance to lift your spirits!
